| Filter Change Instructions |
 |
THIS RO SYSTEM CONTAINS FILTERS WHICH MUST
BE REPLACED AT REGULAR INTERVALS TO MAINTAIN PROPER PERFORMANCE. PUREWATER4U.COM
HAS THE ORIGINAL FACTORY APPROVED FILTERS.
The recommended interval
for changing the filters (NOT the RO Membrane) is every six (6) months.
Typical CTA Membrane life if one to two years. TFC Membrane life is two
to four years. Local water conditions may dictate more frequent changes
of the filters and/or Membrane.
| 1. |
Close the Feed Water Saddle
Valve by turning fully clockwise and open the Dispensing Faucet by lifting
the handle. Allow the Holding Tank to empty. |
| 2. |
Loosen and remove the Sediment
Filter and the Activated Carbon Filter Housings. Discard the filters. Remove
the RO Membrane. If the Membrane is to be replaced, discard. If the RO
Membrane is to be reused, place in refrigerator. |
| 3. |
Wash the inside of the Housings
using a mild detergent and a soft cloth. DO NOT use abrasive cleaners or
pads. Thoroughly rinse all soap from the Housings before reassembly. |
| 4. |
To sanitize the system and
replace the filters:
NOTE: The system
should be sanitized before installing the Activated Carbon Post Filter.
-
Use a good quality unscented
5-1/4% liquid chlorine household bleach.
-
Add one capful of bleach (this
is 2 tsp.) to each of the Filter Housings and the RO Membrane Housing.
Re-install the Housings without the filters HAND TIGHT ONLY.
-
The Dispensing Faucet should
be open. Slowly open the Feed Water Saddle Valve.
-
As soon as water begins to drip
out of the Dispensing Faucet, close the Faucet.
-
Let the system stand for 1 hour.
-
At the end of 1 hour, close
the Feed Water Saddle Valve and open the Dispensing Faucet and allow the
Holding Tank to drain completely.
-
Remove the Filter and Membrane
Housings and install the new filters. Re-install the RO Membrane. Tighten
the Housings HAND TIGHT ONLY!
-
Open the Feed Water Saddle Valve
and allow three hours for the Holding Tank to fill.
-
At the end of three hours, drain
the Holding Tank completely by opening the Dispensing Faucet.
-
When the Faucet is first opened,
expect air and carbon fines (very fine black powder) from the new Activated
Carbon Post Filter to be rinsed out. This is normal for the first tank
of water.
-
Allow the Holding Tank to refill
and enjoy the water!
NOTE: If you are installing
a NEW RO MEMBRANE, you must drain the first three tankfuls of water.
New RO Membranes are shipped
with a preservative. This will be rinsed out with the first water produced.
Allow the Holding Tank to fill (4-6 hours) and discard the first three
full tanks of production. |
